Heard the news of demise of Gazal Singer Jagjit Singh this morning..tears rolled down my cheek.. the first name came in my mind was of my sister and i called her .
Me: "Kahan hai?"
Sis: "Office,Kya hua... ?u sound low "
Me: There is a bad news .
Sis: kya hua..
Me: Jagjit singh is no more..
Sis: watttt?? oh noo!!so unlucky I am !shittt yaar !!! Ruchika attended the concert and I couldn't...that's no fair !!
Me: hmmmmm..I am sorry !all my fault !
Sis: chal koi naa.. shaam ko i will listen to the gazals on phone only.. chal talk to u later ...
My sister is a big ..biggg fan of jagjit singh ... she is so fond of all of his gazals .back at home.. when we were in school and college and use to share room.. she use to sing me a gazal every night on my Farmaish like any radio channel RJ.
Her all time favorite gazal which she sing to pataofyi mom when shez angry on her is " Jhuki Jhuki si nazar ..bekarar hai kee nahi.. dabaa dabba sa sahi dil mein pyaar hai kee nahi" and no matter how angry mom is ..she will not be able to control smile on the second line itself...
Sis has got great voice and since her school days she has this wish to attend a live concert of Jagjit Singh ... unfortunately any such event didnt happen in Jaipur anytime and once when it was scheduled for Gurgaon ..i was a little late in booking tickets ..and now i feel so bad that i couldnt even fulfill this wish of my li'l sister ... so bad I am !!!:(
I wish I can turn the time back and correct my mistake .. i wish ... i wish i can!!!
But thats true that i have learned a lesson now ... i postpone things "will do that later .. abhee to bahut time hai .. etc etc excuses but i have truly understood this proverb "Time and tide waits for none" ..Do the things when u think of them ... naa jaane kab kahan kya ho jaaye and then u sit and regret ..I will not give myself a chance to regret again...for this time .. plz plz forgive me sis .. !
This demise has caused a irreparable loss to the music world.. No one can ever replace Ghazal maestro ..the golden voice who has ruled hearts for more than 30 years and will surely do that for another century .
